CHARACTER
Name: Erica Reyes
Canon: Teen Wolf
Age: 16
Timeline: I'll be pulling Erica from her period of captivity in the Argents' basement, specifically from early in S02E12.
If playing another character from the same canon, how will you deal with this?: N/A

Personality: After spending most of her high school career to date being crushingly self-conscious of herself thanks to her medication-altered appearance and the shortcomings of her body which had necessitated the medication in the first place, Erica wound up fairly shy and withdrawn for fear of drawing undue attention to herself-- Something that to a teenage girl who had suffered with fits for so much of her life would feel like a kind of personal hell. Her shy nature was so extreme that it's even revealed after her change that she'd previously had a long-standing crush on Stiles, who is friendly and open but also awkward enough in his own right, but she had never acted on it nor even expected him to so much as notice her.

Erica's change helped to showcase that most of her shyness was rooted primarily in a kind of self-loathing, as once the issue of her epilepsy was removed from the equation, she blossomed almost instantly; She no longer had to worry about the fits or the side-effects of the medication meant to prevent them, and several years' worth of repressed socialization burst forth instantaneously. Once she was strong and healthy, her confidence skyrocketed. Baggy sweaters and messy hair were abandoned in favor of revealing clothing and dramatic makeup-- This was a girl who finally felt that people should be looking at her, and she wanted to encourage them. As somebody who had never felt she had any sex appeal before her change, she's more than willing to use it to her advantage now that she has it to work with; Whether it's appearing to hit on Scott to get under Allison's skin or writhing against Jackson so that Isaac can help to drug him, even straddling Derek so that she can take him off-guard with a passionate kiss, she's quick to use her allure in her favor.

Of course, deep down, that shy, insecure little girl was still who Erica was at her core; Those weren't traits that anybody could just shake off in the span of a makeover, despite how desperately she wanted to feign otherwise. Her enthusiasm to prove herself to Derek was as much about proving her confidence's validity to herself as it was about him. There's definitely an undercurrent of spite to much of what she did when she found herself interacting with her classmates once again, because so much of her "torment" had come however unwittingly at their hands, and she outright says as much when dealing with them. This is attributable to her still being a teenager as much as it is to her deeper personality, however; She is still only 16, however easy that might sometimes be to forget.

Though she's quick to put herself in the thick of things when there's danger afoot(Her pack has always accepted and valued her, and she's willing to work to protect them as a result), actual pain and real life-or-death situations do still upset and frighten Erica; Not being much of a tactical thinker, she isn't above simply begging for her life when she and Boyd are hunted down by the Argents, once she realizes that short of appealing to Allison's human nature there isn't likely to be any other way out of their predicament. When she and Boyd are trussed up in the basement with no real plan for escape, the pain and hopelessness of their situation reduces her to tears until Stiles' appearance(whereupon she actually tries to warn him against trying to release them for fear that he would hurt himself). Had it not been for Chris Argent's eventual change of heart, she would no doubt have remained at the family's mercy, as she is simply not very skilled at working her way out of such situations on her own.

Background: Erica's Wiki Page

Having spent her life as a child with epilepsy, Erica had never been what she could consider "cool" in her own mind. Though the condition was treatable through medication, the side-effects thereof were in and of themselves a whole seperate set of handicaps that she had to endure; When your options boil down to "occasional unpredictable seizures, often resulting in incontinence" or "weight gain and prevalent acne," most teenagers would, despite of course opting for the medication, hardly see it as much of an improvement.

So when she'd wound up in the hospital yet again, feeling more than a little weak and ashamed after having a seizure in front of her classmates, only to be approached by a gorgeous stranger who wanted to offer an awkward girl the solution to what she felt were all of her problems... Who was she to say no? No more epilepsy, no more acne, no more reason to be that wallflower in the baggy clothing shrinking away from the public eye... It was like the answer to a prayer.

Freshly-changed, Erica was at first glance almost unrecognizable as the girl she had been. Suddenly bursting with self-confidence and eager to please the man who'd made it all possible, she became determined to carry out his plans. Whether that meant playing to her fellow students' insecurities to garner information or outright assault and attempted murder, she followed through. There were occasional moments of small rebellion, as one would naturally expect of a girl her age, but at the end of the day she knew which side her bread was buttered on.

Before long, however, she grew impatient with Derek's methods and wanted more than he had thus far been able to provide for his pack. Hearing the calling of what she believed to be another nearby pack turned out to be the last straw-- Derek had given her the confidence to face the world, and now she had incentive as well. She and her packmate Boyd decided they stood a better chance with this mysterious other pack, and opted to set off together to try and find them. What they found, however, turned out to be a trap. The Argent family had been riding through the woods on ATVs using recorded howls to try and lure the wolves out so that they could be hunted more easily, and Erica and Boyd played right into their hands. After being riddled with arrows and incapacitated, both wolves were taken prisoner in the Argents' basement.

Strengths/Weaknesses:

Strengths: Witty, intelligent, driven, is a freaking werewolf, skilled at using people's insecurities against them.

Weaknesses: Insecure, volatile, immature, not a tactical thinker, can be more than a little revenge-hungry. She is also vulnerable to the effects of wolfsbane and mountain ash, as are all the werewolves in her canon.

Abilities: Erica is a Beta werewolf, with all of the usual abilities attributed to them in her universe.

First Person: [The scene at the train station is an explosive one, the doors of the boxcar barely having had a chance to open before a dirty and wild-eyed blonde girl comes staggering out of them. Her hair is matted with leaf debris and dried blood, her clothes torn as well as being similarly-filthy. Fear and pain have brought Erica's wolf close to the surface, and her eyes are a bright and feral gold color as they dart about in an effort to take in her new surroundings.]

Where the-- Boyd? Boyd!

[Her last memories, foggy though they are, are not solitary ones. She and her packmate had been being held captive-- The realization comes belatedly that her mouth is no longer covered with tape, her wrists no longer bound, her body no longer wracked by a constant electrical current... Though the aches of her prior situation haven't faded, so it can't have been that long ago. Yelling Boyd's name once more, she frantically turns to face the train just in time to see it depart. The sudden motion jars her pocketwatch loose from her jacket pocket and sends it skittering to the pavement at her feet, popping open to start its first video feed without her knowledge. All it manages to capture this time, however, is the image of Erica sinking slowly to her blood-and-dirt-stained knees as she begins to cry.]

Third Person: It wasn't that she was above crying, not really. A lifetime of being the "weirdo," a sick kid who couldn't even control her own body, had long since robbed Erica of any pointless pride that would have kept her from shedding tears where people might see her. It's awfully hard not to cry when you come to and realize that you've broken three school desks before peeing yourself in front of a roomful of your peers, after all. No, crying was not anything Erica was ashamed of anymore.

What shamed her now was her sheer helplessness. And then of course her face-value acceptance of that helplessness, which just made the tears come even easier.

"Goddammit..." She ground the word out from between clenched teeth, wiping one eye furiously with the scuffed-up heel of her hand. "Should have known better... Anything that sounds too good to be true usually is, right?" And those howls, that pack-that-wasn't, had indeed sounded good. Or so she had thought at the time.

A few moments more of sniffling beside the vacated train tracks were all she could permit herself for the time being, though. She wasn't bound and gagged anymore, which was a start. But she didn't know whether or not Boyd still was, or how far away she'd been taken from him... And that wasn't okay. Staggering to her feet with the intention of beginning her search, the beta let out a soft cry of pain when her wounded thigh tried to buckle beneath her weight. She grit her teeth and tried again, grunting at the throb in the muscle but refusing to let it give out again.

"Okay... Maybe healing is gonna be step one, then." The last of her tears were sniffed away; She had to focus. "Fine." Taking one cautious step and then another, she muttered sarcastically to herself in an effort to bring her spirits back up. "Things could be worse... At least you didn't wind up paralyzed again this time..."
